Police Blotter: Stolen Car Nabbed

The following arrest information was provided by the California Highway Patrol, Sheriff's Office and the Watsonville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A California Highway Patrol officer spotted a 1992 Lexus with stolen plates at Vista Point, on southbound Highway 1 north of Watsonville on Tuesday morning, the CHP reported.

The plates belonged to a 1993 Lexus. Upon further investigation, the officer determined the car had been stolen from El Cajon, east of San Diego, earlier this month. 

The driver of the vehicle, Daniel Boggeln, a 32-year-old Hollister man, was arrested and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of vehicle theft and possessing stolen property, both felonies.

The Lexus was towed and will be returned to its owner, the CHP reported.

The incident happened about 10:25 a.m.

Watsonville Police Log, Tuesday, Nov. 29

9:34 a.m.—Sigifredo Ruiz Lopez, 50, crashed his car into a parked vehicle in front of 335 E. Beach St. He was arrested for DUI and booked into County Jail.

11:19 a.m.—Fabian Camacho, 24, showed up at his mom's house, violating a restraining order. He left the home, on the 500 block of Rogge Street, before police got there.

11:30 a.m.—Police made a warrant arrest on the 400 block of Riverside Drive.

8:38 p.m.—A teenage girl shoplifted from a store on the 1400 block of Main Street. Police said she hid items in her purse, but was caught by store security and turned over to the cops.

Sheriff's Office Log, Tuesday, Nov. 29

9:30 a.m.—A 16-year-old boy ran away from home, his mother reported. The teen lives in apartments on Browns Valley Road in Corralitos and was last seen leaving to hang out with friends in Santa Cruz. He's a habitual runaway, according to deputies.
