Police Blotter: Suspected DUI Driver Fights Two Cops

The Live Oak man was bashing a car with a baseball bat on the side of Highway 1 before CHP officers contacted him.

A Live Oak man beat his car with a bat, kicked a California Highway Patrol officer in the face and tried to assault a second cop on Sunday, the CHP reported.

The incident began around 11:30 a.m. on Highway 1 near Larkin Valley Road, north of Watsonville, when 911 callers reported a man hitting a red Pontiac with a baseball bat. CHP officers responded and found Sergio Castillo attacking his own car, according to the CHP.

Officers tried to arrest Castillo on suspicion of driving under the influence, but he allegedly kicked one cop in the face, the CHP reported.
