Police Blotter: Teens Steal Car

The following arrest information was provided by the county Gang Task Force and the Watsonville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Three teenagers were arrested after they allegedly stole a vehicle, fled police and crashed into a planter box on Wednesday afternoon, the county's Gang Task Force reported.

A 13-year-old was behind the wheel, with two passengers ages 15 and 17, according to Officer Scott Parsons, who is assigned to the task force and was the first officer to respond to the incident.

The 17-year-old reportedly had live ammunition with him and the 15-year-old suffered minor injuries in the crash, authorities reported.

The vehicle was stolen just before 4:30 p.m. from in front of a home on the 400 block of Center Street. The owner had left the engine running while he went inside to shower and the teens allegedly swiped it.

Parsons spotted the vehicle at East Lake Avenue and Lincoln Street. The teens refused to stop, causing a short pursuit. That ended when they crashed into a planter box in front of the Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency office on Brennan Street, the task force reported.
