Ellex, a 3 year-old male German shepherd, is the newest Watsonville police officer.
The canine cop is partnered with Officer Mish Radich and will be introduced to the community Thursday morning, according to Police Chief Manny Solano.
The Watsonville Police Assistance Fund, police department’s dedicated non-profit organization, provided financial support for the new dog.

The organization is also launching a "Hug a WPD Hero" campaign, selling stuffed K9s and Hero Bears for $10 each. The funds go toward projects that support WPD and its activities.
