Police Probe Gunshot Report

The incident was reported at 3 p.m. Wednesday near Rolling Hills Middle School.

Watsonville police found a tiny bit of evidence of a shooting but little else when they were called to a report of gunshots heard on Lawrence and Anna streets around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers located one small-caliber shell casing in front of Anna Street home, accordng to Lt. David McCartney. There were no injuries or property damage, and neighbors didn't have much to add, police said.

Two men were detained at the scene and questioned, then released around 4:30 p.m. A third person was arrested on an unrelated charge, police said.

The quiet neighborhood is near and several churches. Police contacted the school after the shooting report came in but canceled the lockdown when they determined the students weren't at risk.
