Police: Ramsay Park Shooting Suspect Linked to Hair Salon Robbery

A 25-year-old female gang member is suspected of both crimes.

A 25-year-old Watsonville woman suspected of gunning down a man in Ramsay Park in a gang-motivated attack earlier this week is now the prime suspect in the armed robbery of a downtown hair salon last month, Watsonville police announced Friday.

Inez Leal Suarez was arrested shortly after the Wednesday evening shooting that seriously injured a 39-year-old man. The victims remains hospitalized at a Bay Area trauma center. His wounds are considered life-threatening, police said.

Suarez had a handgun with her when she was detained. Police said they linked the handgun to the July 24 armed robbery of Modern Creations Salon on Main Street.

Witnesses placed Suarez at both crime scenes, police said.

She remains in County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder with gang enhancements, and detectives have requested a warrant for the robbery case.
