Robber Brandishes Hypodermic Needle In Jewelry Store Heist

A robber told a jewelry store clerk he had communicable diseases as he threatened the jewelry store clerk with a hypodermic needle and a knife during a hold up Saturday in Watsonville, police said.

The heist happened at Ideal Jewelry on Freedom Boulevard.

Police said the robber got away with several pieces if jewelry.

Detectives identified Eric Sanchez, a Watsonville resident, as a possible suspect in the heist.

Armed with a search warrant, police raided Sanchez's house Saturday evening. They reportedly recovered stolen jewelry at the home.

But Sanchez wasn't home at the time. Police said he is wanted for robbery.
