Shopper Robbed at Knife Point

The daytime crime happened near downtown Sunday.

A man shopping at the Discount Mall was robbed at knife point on Sunday afternoon, Watsonville police reported.

The crime was reported around 3:10 p.m. The man told officers he had been shopping at the indoor market, at 347 Rodriguez St., when one robber walked up to him, started a casual conversation, then pulled out a knife, police reported.

A second robber approached and the two forced the man out of the store onto East Beach and Rodriguez streets. The robbers told the man to give them all his money, which he did for fear of being stabbed, police said.

The robbers fled in separate directions. One was about 30 years old, heavy build, wearing a blue shirt. The man tried to follow that robber, but lost sight of him on Rodriguez Street near Second Street, police said.

Officers searched the area but didn't find the robbers. Detectives ask that anyone with information about the robbery call the Investigation Bureau at 768-3350 or the Crime Tipline at 768-3544.

Looks like it might be time to close this post to comments as well, Jennifer...the point has been made: the guys who committed the crime WILL be caught, TBW is very much alive & well, we are going to stand against crime in our city regardless of who the crminals are, and regardless of how many parasites swirl through the air:)

Maybe the patch should instead look into where TBW is getting its funding and where the monies are REALY going. David Perez and Cathy P. might not like this. Neither would several people down at city hall. Follow the money.

@patch - follow the money. @cathy - still posting on city dole? How was your meeting with with TBW on city time?
