Shots Fired at Sudden Street House with Family Inside

Multiple gunman fired at the house Sunday evening; no one was hurt.

Several people armed with guns took shots at a Sudden Street house Sunday evening while a family with several children were inside in what investigators are calling a gang-motivated attack, according to Watsonville police.

No injuries were reported. No arrests have been made.

The shooting was reported just after dark, about 5:48 p.m., at a house on the 100 block of the street. Multiple gunmen took shots at one window of the home, according to police.

Several bullets struck the house, police reported.

A family with several children, ranging from infants to young adults, were home at the time, police said. The home is between East Fifth Street and Palm Avenue in a diverse neighborhood of older houses, small businesses, an art gallery and a private school.

The gunmen fled in different directions after firing on the house. Witnesses said they were wearing dark clothing; one of the people fleeing was seen carrying a handgun, witnesses told police.

Officers searched unsuccessfully for the gunmen. Detectives ask that anyone with information about the shooting call the Investigations Bureau at 768-3350 or the Crime Tip Line at 768-3544.
