Shots Fired at Teens Seated in Parked Car

No one was hurt in the drive-by shooting Wednesday evening in Watsonville.

Two young adults sitting in their vehicle waiting for relative were shot at Wednesday evening, Watsonville police reported.

Several bullets struck the vehicle, but no one inside was injured, police said. No arrests have been made.

The violence happened around 7 p.m. at the corner of Roosevelt Street and Cullumber Court. A 19-year-old man and 18-year-old woman were seated in a vehicle when a black sport utility vehicle turned onto Roosevelt from California Street. The SUV approached the parked vehicle and one person inside fired several shots from a handgun, police said.

The SUV drove away north on Roosevelt toward Stanford Street, police said.

Officers conducted an exhaustive search for the SUV, but it was not located.

Investigators said they're unsure what motivated the shooting. They ask that anyone with information about the shooting call the Investigative Bureau at 768-3350 or the Crime Tipline at 768-3544.
