Five fire engines and one truck responded to the fire. When the firefighters arrived, they saw what appeared to be smoke coming from the attic.

They cut into the roof of the house from the outside and took down the attic's walls in order to reach the fire, which was extinguished around 6:56 a.m.

Firefighters also tried to salvage some of the items in the house by covering them. The occupants of the house were all able to walk out unharmed, Ryan said.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined, and an investigation is taking place.
