Teen Stabbed, Assailant Flees

The violence happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at a Main Street gas station.

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed at a gas station late Saturday but, despite an exhaustive search, officers did not fine his attacker, Watsonville police reported.

It wasn't clear if the violence was gang-related, police said.

The attack happened around 11:30 p.m. at the Chevron station, on Main Street between between Green Valley Road and Ohlone Parkway, police reported. The teen was stabbed once in the upper torso, a non life-threatening injury, police said.

Officers suspected the assailant fled through the slough and officers scoured the area, according to emergency radio traffic.

The teenager was flown to an out-of-county trauma center for treatment. He was not cooperative with police; he wouldn't even say what had happened, according to a statement from the police department.

As a result, investigators have little information to go on: officers spoke with one witness and collected minimal evidence. Detectives ask that anyone with information about the stabbing call the Investigations Bureau at 768-3350 or the Crime Tip Line at 768-3544.
