A teenager brought his younger cousin to the emergency room Tuesday night after the boy was shot, Watsonville police reported.
The 17-year-old was suffering from a non life-threatening gunshot wound when he arrived at Watsonville Community Hospital about 9:44 p.m., police said. His 18-year-old cousin brought the injured boy in, but both teens refused to cooperate with officers.
It wasn't clear how the shooting occurred or who the assailant was. Police reports indicated the boy was shot in his lower back and that the shooting happened on the 100 block of East Beach Street.
The injured boy was taken to an out-of-county hospital for treatment.
Police are looking for a vehicle possibly connected with the shooting that the cousin used to bring the 17-year-old to the hospital. It is a gray 2001 Honda Civic four-door with a California license plate of 6GLD637. Detectives ask that anyone with information about the shooting call the Crime Tip line at 728-3544 or the Investigation Bureau at 768-3352.
