Teenager Slain on Watsonville Sidewalk Identified

The youth had just turned 18, authorities said.

A man gunned down on a Watsonville Street over the weekend was idenitified Monday as an 18-year-old youth who just had a birthday.

Marco Topete had just turned 18 on Jan. 14, according to the Register Pajaronian news.

The youth was riding a bicycle on Second Street shortly before 9 p.m. Friday when someone opened fire and shot him multiple times, the Pajaronian reported.

The news agency also reported that the young man had gang affiliations and was the victim of a shooting in October.

He died on the sidewalk, authorities said.
