By Bay City News

Two brothers were arrested in Watsonville on Thursday for possession and transportation of crystal meth, police said.

Watsonville residents Jose Luis Fernandez, 28, and Marco Antonio Fernandez, 20, were stopped by police for an equipment violation near the intersection of Madison and E. High streets at about 4:40 p.m., police said.

The officer made contact with Jose Luis Fernandez, the driver of a silver Mercedes-Benz, and determined that he was on post-release community supervision with search terms.

Officers searched the vehicle and located approximately two ounces of crystal methamphetamine in a hidden compartment, police said.

Officers also located about $3,000 in cash.

The brothers were arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sales, according to police.

Police obtained a search warrant for a residence on Arbol Drive that the brothers share with other family members, including children.

Upon searching the residence, officers found over three pounds of crystal methamphetamine, evidence of drug sales, a handgun and $2,000 in cash.

The brothers were arrested for additional felony and weapon charges, police said.
