Two Arrested Friday with Drugs and Weapon

A probation search Friday evening led to the arrest of a man and woman.

A man and a woman were arrested Friday evening in Watsonville after a police search of their parked vehicle uncovered drugs and a weapon.       

At 5:38 p.m. a Watsonville police officer saw a black Ford Probe parked at Ford and Kearney streets.

The occupants of the vehicle, Anthony Whitney, 41 of Castroville and Veronica Carrillo, 27, of Watsonville were both on probation and subject to search, police said.

During a search of the vehicle, police said they found a loaded semi-automatic pistol, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Whitney and Carrillo were arrested on suspicion of probation violation, possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle and possession of a controlled substance. Whitney was also charged for a gang enhancement, police said.

Both suspects were booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.
