Update: Larkin Valley Fire

It took fire crews three hours to put out Saturday's fire near Larkin Valley off Highway 1

 

Local fire officials are still investigating a fire that broke out east of Highway 1 near Larkin Valley on Saturday afternoon and according to the Corralitos Cal Fire station, a little over 1.5 acres were damaged in the aftermath.

It took Cal Fire along with Aptos/La Selva and Central Fire District three hours to control the fire and there were still no injuries to report, also according to Cal Fire.

A bulldozer, hand crew, helicopter, two air tankers and a spotter plane were also on the scene to fight the blaze and traffic was backed up heavily on the northbound side of Highway 1 as firefighters worked to fully contain the fire.
