Update: Truck Careened Off Highway in Fiery Crash

Both drivers suffered injuries in the crash.

The fiery crash that closed Highway 129 for much of the afternoon Tuesday was caused when a car collided with a big rig towing two trailers, the Register Pajaronian reported.

Sourcing the California Highway Patrol, the R-P reported: "The collision sent the truck through a metal guardrail and down a 20-foot embankment, where it burst into flames and set the hillside on fire."

Firefighters controlled the flames, which threatened at least one home, before they spread.

The 21-year-old man driving the car broke his ankle and suffered a laceration on his head, and the truck driver suffered a cut on his arm, the Register Pajaronian reported.
