Watsonville Drive-by Shooting Suspect at Large

A man shot at a parked vehicle occupied by three people on West Front Street, near Grove Street, about 11:15 p.m. Friday, police said.

No one was injured in a drive-by shooting in Watsonville Friday but the suspect was still at large.

The shooting occurred about 11:15 p.m. on West Front Street, near Grove Street, according to Watsonville police Sgt. Morgan Chappell.

A man in a late 90s red and brown Nissan Quest minivan drove by a parked vehicle with three people inside, made a U-turn and drove toward the vehicle again, the sergeant wrote in a news release.

The driver fired one shot at the vehicle and drove off, heading east on Front Street and turning north on Rodriguez Street, toward Riverside Drive, police said.

The bullet did hit the vehicle, Chappell reported.

According to police, the suspect wore a brown pendelton shirt and a red hat; police think the man may be a gang member but could not say whether the shooting was gang motivated.

Anyone with information in the case was asked to call the Watsonville police Crime Tip line, 728-3544 or the Watsonville police investigations bureau at 768-3350.

In some part of the country they get upset about this type of thing but here in Watsonville it's not even news worthy. If wonder if the shooting of 27 people in this little getto town would even raise a stir. What a crummy slum we live in.

They? Who do you mean by 'They"? And what makes you think there aren't some people here who are very upset about 'this kind of thing'? If you aren't a part of the solution, you are a part of the problem. Which are you? I realize that may sound hard, even mean at first. But think about it. I can't do everything. Neither can you. But I can do something. And the bottom line for me is I REFUSE to do nothing. Find your place, i.e., find what you can do to make a change, even the smallest change, and get caught up in that. Make a difference for good.

HizDesign - you have done nothing about this and you never will. You are to afraid to look out your windows. All you do is complain. Last year you were up in arms about the speeders in front of your home, all you did as complin. Others addressed the problem.

Wow Bonnie, I think you have me confused with someone else! We've never wasted our time complaining about speeders. Anyone who knows us also knows we spend most of our spare time ( the time we aren't working) sitting on our front porch w/a good cup of coffee and our friendly dog:) You sound like someone who'd love to make changes in our town, & perhaps already are involved in doing so. If so, my hat's off to you! Keep up the good work, & maybe we'll bump into each other one day!!

Marie H Boughtor, Unless you know me you have no idea what you're blabbering on about. You don't know me, you don't know who my friends and/ or acquaintances are, you don't know what it is we speak about, and you certainly are not enough of a man or woman( the fact that you sign your name as Marie means nothing at this point) to speak to me face-to-face. Those things considered, I choose to conclude that this and any similar comments left by you under Marie H Boughtor OR any of the other names used to post on the Patch are just plain foolishness, full of hot air and worthy only of being ignored completely &/or deleted.
