Watsonville High Student Arrested with Meth, Brass Knuckles on Campus

The 16-year-old was taken into custody before school started on Thursday.

Teenagers are sure on an unlawful streak in Watsonville this week.

A day before two 15-year-olds were arrested for their part in an armed robbery at Walgreens, a 16-year-old student was arrested at Watsonville High School with a huge stash of illegal material.

At 7:54 a.m. Thursday, the student was involved in a disturbance at the school in which he mentioned having a weapon, giving security guards cause to search him, Watsonville police told Patch.

Despite the chaos associated with the campus, the school's graduation rate is still above the California state average, although it has fallen each of the last two years.

The Watsonville Police Department also reported earlier this week that violent crime dropped 10 percent in 2012 from 2011.
