Watsonville Man Arrested for Firing Gun

Officers from multiple agencies responded when the report came in about armed suspects.

Watsonville Police officers, Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Deputies, California Highway Patrol officers, and members of the Santa Cruz County Gang Task Force all converged on a Watsonville home Friday evening after the resident called to report that three armed men were threatening him.

The first officers on the scene heard gunshots coming from the backyard. That’s when reinforcements arrived.

No victims were found, and the only person armed with a gun was the resident, Andres Navarro. According to Watsonville police, “Navarro was seen in the backyard of 56 Lincoln St. armed with a handgun. Navarro then went on to the roof of his residence for a short period of time and then went back into his residence. After several minutes, Navarro came out of the front of his residence and surrendered to law enforcement personnel on scene.”
