Watsonville Man Threatens Group With Gun

Police arrested him and seized two firearms early Friday.

Police arrested a man who was allegedly brandishing a firearm at a group of people in Watsonville early this morning.

Jesus Calderon Chavez, 26, was arrested after police received a report at 12:56 a.m. of a man brandishing a firearm at and threatening to shoot a group of people in the 400 block of Center Street.

While police were heading to Center Street, the suspect fled to his home on Roache Road.

Officers arrived at the home shortly afterward and arrested Chavez, police said.

During a search of Chavez's residence, officers located a semi-automatic handgun and a semi-automatic assault-style rifle with high capacity magazines and about 100 rounds of ammunition, police said.

Chavez was booked into county jail and his weapons were seized, according to police.
