Watsonville Man Threatens To Kill 7-Eleven Clerk

Police arrest Oscar Franco for making threats, but didn't find any weapons.

Working the nightshift can be stressful, but a clerk at a Watsonville 7-Eleven store wasn't going to tolerate being threatened with his life.

Watsonville Police arrested Oscar Franco, 31, after a confrontation with a 7-Eleven clerk on Wednesday night. Franco was drinking a beer, which he did not buy at the 7-Eleven, in front of the store when the clerk told him to leave. That's when Franco allegedly threatened to kill him, saying he had a gun and a knife.

Franco then walked away and was soon detained by officers. Franco was not found to be carrying any weapons. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail and charged with making threats with an intent to terrorize.

Watsonville Police said they would likely step up their presence in the area of the 7-Eleven and that Franco would be prohibited from contacting the clerk.
