Watsonville Police Arrest Five Suspected Gang Members Friday

The suspects were arrested after leading police on a car and foot chase around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

On Friday night, Watsonville Police arrested five people suspected of being in a criminal street gang after a car and foot chase.

At 9:33 p.m., two officers assigned to the Gang Task Force attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle for a vehicle code violation, according to Watsonville Police.

The vehicle did not stop when the officers used their lights and sirens, and instead led them on a pursuit through the city streets, coming to a halt at Ninth Street.

Upon stopping, one of the suspects fled by food and was quickly captured by police. The other four were detained by police officers and the Gang Task Force.

The suspects are Federico Contreras, 22, Nancy Tapia, 20, Abel De La Torre, 24, Adan Valerio, 20, and a 17-year-old female, according to Watsonville Police.
