Wildfire Threatens Buildings Near Aromas

The 1-acre blaze broke out just before lunch Tuesday.

Firefighters contained a wildfire that threatened structures in Monterey County Tuesday morning, fire officials said.

At 11:01 a.m. firefighters received a report of a wildfire in the community of Royal Oaks near the town of Aromas.

Firefighters from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Aromas Tri-County Fire Protection District and North Monterey County Fire Protection District responded to the fire.

The fire was an acre in size and threatening structures when firefighters arrived on scene. With the assistance of aircraft, firefighters protected the structures and had the fire contained by 11:24 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, fire officials said.
