Woman Driving Jeep Arrested for Gang-Motivated Ramsay Park Shooting

A 39-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in the brazen daytime attack.





A 25-year-old Watsonville woman was arrested on suspicion of a gang-motivated shooting Wednesday evening that left one man with life-threatening injuries, Watsonville police reported.

Inez Leal Suarez was detained shortly after the 5:58 p.m. shooting, police said. 

A 39-year-old man was shot three times in the legs, police said. His wounds were considered "life threatening" and he was flown to a Bay Area trauma center for treatment. Police had no word on his condition late Wednesday.

Suarez was arrested after descriptions of the shooter led police to her, police said. 

Witnesses told offices a Latina with black hair and wearing a white T-shirt while driving a gray Jeep was involved. Suarez was caught nearby not long after the shooting and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, gang participation, illegal possession of a firearm and discharging a gun from a vehicle, police said.
