Woman Raped, Has Car Stolen on Freedom Boulevard Sunday Morning

Suspect Wayne Steven Maynor, 30, has been arrested by Watsonville Police for crime of kidnap, rape and vehicle theft.

A Watsonville woman was kidnapped, raped, and had her car stolen, Sunday morning on Freedom Boulevard. The suspect of the crime, Wayne Steven Maynor, 30, has been arrested.

Officers responded at 8:20 a.m. to a reported carjacking, and discovered a distressed victim who had been bound up by the suspect, according to a police report.

After parking her car and opening the door, the suspect approached her, and held a knife to her neck, further investigation revealed. The victim was forced inside, blindfolded, and tied up. She was then sexually assaulted by the suspect who afterward fled with her vehicle.

Officers discovered that the stolen vehicle was in the area of E. Lake Ave., headed toward Hushbeck. An officer noticed Maynor walking out of a liquor store on E. Lake Ave. and tried to make contact with him before he fled on foot.

Officers chased him, but lost contact around the 500 block of Center Street. He was spotted again, chased by police to the 500 block of E. Lake Ave, and found hiding in a portable storage shed. Maynor was arrested, and found in possession of some of the victim’s property.
