Young Woman Badly Hurt in Morning Crash

Car, semi-truck collided at Highway 1 and Salinas Road.

A 20-year-old Hollister woman was badly hurt Wednesday morning when she crashed her car into a semi-truck on Highway 1 near Salinas Road in North Monterey County, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash happened around 9:18 a.m. when the woman's 1999 Honda sedan crossed into oncoming traffic on the two-lane highway and hit a 2007 Peterbuilt semi-truck and trailer, according to the CHP.

The woman had been heading north when she hit the southbound big rig. CHP officers said it was unclear what caused her to veer into head-on traffic.
