Accessing Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)

November 28, 2011 – The Federal Government grants over $2.5 billion in funding annually to small businesses. The Central Coast and CSU Monterey Bay Small Business Development Centers (SBDC), Institute for Innovation and Economic Development, and Project 17 are sponsoring a free seminar, “Accessing Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), on Thursday, December 1st at the CSUMB SBDC Marina office located at the Marina Library, 190 Seaside Circle, Marina from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Business owners will learn about the federal government's largest Research & Development grants and contracts programs for the small business community. These programs are a great source of funding for promising new technologies. SBIR/STTR funding can also serve as a pathway to equity financing. This seminar will cover the following:


- Overview and differences between SBIR and STTR programs - Qualifications and eligibility requirements for SBIR/STTR funding - How to determine if your innovation is a good fit for SBIR/STTR funding - How to search for SBIR/STTR solicitations and topics - Steps to preparing a SBIR/STTR proposal - Tips for improving your chances of receiving SBIR/STTR funding
