Mobile Home Fee Increase, Alley Repaving on Tap for Council

The Watsonville City Council will be tacking straightforward issues at its meeting Tuesday

Repaving city alleys and increasing fees for mobile home residents are the agenda for Tuesday's Watsonville City Council meeting.

and got a show of support from mobile home residents, some of whom even said they'd pay $10 a month if it meant securing rent stabilization for their homes.

The proposal is to increase fees to $5 a month and save that money for a rainy-day legal fund in case the mobile home park owners ever challenge rent control in Watsonville.

At Tuesday's meeting, the council needs to approve the language that will be used on the November ballot measure, which must be approved by a majority of city residents.

The council also will consider an alley repaving project brought forward by the Public Works Department.

The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. in the Watsonville City Council Chambers, fourth floor of the Civic Plaza, 250 Main St.
