Public Meeting Previews

The City Council meets Tuesday, followed by the Community Redistricting Advisory Committee and school board on Wednesday.

Watsonville's elected officials are all working this week.

Tuesday, the city council meets at 4:30 p.m. with the city's to talk about the future of the agency and also respond to the that slammed Watsonville city government.

The council reconvenes at 6:30 p.m. where it will consider an appeal from at his Main Street convenience store. The council also will consider adopting a new city law that requires veterinarians to give county Animal Services documentation of rabies vaccinations and Police Chief Manny Solano will discuss reestablishing the Criminal Justice Council of Santa Cruz County.

All of that happens in the city council chambers, on the fourth floor of the Civic Plaza, Main and Second streets.

Back in city council chambers on Wednesday, the redistricting committee will gather at 6:30 p.m. to look at .

The committee likely will make a decision this time around because the group's recommendation is slated to be presented at the Sept. 13 city council meeting. The committee is trying to come up with a map that keeps incumbent city councilors (including the mayor) in their own districts but shifts enough residents from district-to-district to .

Finally, the Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the district office, Green Valley and Holohan roads.

The trustees will be discussing adult education, the impact of the state budget on the school district and their own redistricting requirements.
