The Return of Main Street?

The city council will talk about taking control of Highway 152 from Caltrans at Tuesday night's meeting.

Highway 152 could be a whole new road, should the Watsonville City Council continue it's efforts to take control of the thoroughfare from the state.

The issue will be up for discussion again Tuesday night. The council talked about it two weeks ago during its afternoon informational session and decided to move forward with the effort, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported.

The four-lane highway begins on the west side of town at Highway 1 and travels about 4 miles through the city before heading out through ag land toward Gilroy. Currently, Caltrans maintains the highway.
