Time's Up on Downtown Parking Limit Debate

A lot—pun intended—of community input is expected in the parking lot discussion Tuesday evening.

The  is likely to drive people to come to the Watsonville City Council meeting Tuesday evening.

The parking issue came before the council two weeks ago. It was billed as a report on where people choose to park downtown—often parking lots instead of city-run garages—and for how long. The discussion got stuck when city staff recommended reducing the time limit in Lot 14, the parking area between  and , from two hours to one.

It took quite awhile for the matter to come up on the agenda and several people who came to add their two cents went home because it got so late. As a result, the parking lot issue is back on Tuesday's agenda. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and is also shown on Community TV.

In the early session—starting at 4:30 p.m.—city councilors will hear from the Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency about its groundwater basin management program and from CalTrans about rerouting Highway 152 off Main Street.

The city council meets in its chambers on the fourth floor of the Watsonville Civic Plaza, 275 Main St.
