VOTE: Satisfied with Friend as Supervisor?

Zach Friend was elected 2nd District Supervisor on Tuesday. What do you think?

Ellen Pirie's exit as 2nd District County Supervisor has welcomed the beginning of Zach Friend's tenure in the same role.

Friend, who has served as the spokesman for the Santa Cruz Police Department for well over half a decade, is a Capitola resident who will now serve on the board as the representative of the district that covers half of Capitola, all of Aptos and part of Watsonville.

In Tuesday's election, he needed at least 50 percent of the total vote to avoid a two-man run-off in November. By a seven percent margin, he escaped just that. His 57.17 percent of the vote .

Since his election was announced,, and we want to hear what you think.

Are you happy Friend was elected? Did you vote for him? Tell us in the comments and vote in the poll below!

He hasn't as yet proven himself capable of representing the needs of the district. Does he even know what they are?

Very funny. Chuck, you may have to change your name to Chuckle.

My main concern is Zach being both a former head of the county Democratic Central Committee and Santa Cruz city employee. The county board is already too partisan, and we can only hope that Zach being a public employee doesn't result in him being another fox guarding the hen house. Like itsmecissy said: Wait and see.
