Support Your Candidate

I am a candidate for Watsonville City Council, District 5. The election is not untiil November 2014, however in order to run a campaign I must raise funds. My first fundraiser will be a Mexican dinner raffle. The dinner will be raffled on Cinco de Mayo (May 5th).  The dinner for 10 will consist of chicken enchiladas, cheese enchiladas, rice, beans, chips, and salsa. The cost per ticket is $10. You win and we will deliver your home-made dinner on the date you choose.

Why would you choose to support me as a candidate? I was born and raised in Watsonville. I attended local schools: Pajaro Elementary School, Watsonville High School, Cabrillo College, and U.C. Santa Cruz. I was a teacher and administrator for Pajaro Valley Unified School District for 18 years. I was a Trustee on the Cabrillo College Governing Board for 20 years. I have volunteered and served on numerous community Boards such as the YWCA, Pajaro Valley Health Trust, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Parks and Recreation Commission. I have contributed to several accomplishments in the community including the Watsonville Inclusionary Ordinance which provides affordable housing and the Cabrillo Collge Watsonville Center.

What are the issues I will address? The number one issue is Economic Development. The focus will be on Downtown revitalization. This will contribute to new job creation for our community and raise revenue for the city. Community safety is another important issue. I live in a neighborhood with a strong Neighborhood Watch program. We need more Neighborhood Watches throughout the District and the City. In May I will be having my first of several neighborhood meeting to get input on other concerns that are important to the residents of District 5 and more issues will be identified then.
