65 Language-Savvy Students Awarded

A total of 65 graduating high school seniors from the Pajaro Valley Unified School District are being honored both this week and at their graduation ceremonies for proficiency in two languages.

The students are receiving the 2013 Seal of Biliteracy. According to the school district, this is the third year the award has been handed out.

"It is given to graduating seniors who have met rigorous standards demonstrating competency in reading, writing, listening and speaking in two languages," the district said in a press release.

The award comes with a medallion to be presented at a ceremony on May 22 which will be worn at the graduation ceremonies, a seal on the winners' diplomas and notation on their official transcripts.
