Community Open House at Cabrillo College

Cabrillo College Children’s Center Announces Community Open House and Preschool Program Openings

APTOS, CA —The Cabrillo College Children’s Center today announced that it has openings in two preschool programs for Fall 2011. The programs include a morning preschool program from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and an afternoon preschool program from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The programs will operate five days per week during both the fall and spring semesters and will follow the college semester schedule.

The Cabrillo College Children’s Center will also host an open house on Saturday, September 24, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. All community members are welcome to attend. During the event, children and families may tour the facility and experience preschool activities and Children’s Center staff will be present to answer questions. Preschool slots are currently open to children of students, faculty and community members and applications will be available.

Financial assistance is provided for income eligible families. A reasonable fee schedule is available for those families that do not qualify for financial assistance. The Children’s Center is located in the 1500 Building on the Aptos campus at 6500 Soquel Drive. For more information, please call the Children’s Center Director, Jim Marshall at 479-6117.

The Cabrillo College Children’s Center has achieved Re-Accreditation with the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The rigorous candidacy and self-assessment were approved prior to the accreditation visit in January. The Infant, Toddler and Preschool classrooms received scores above 95 in each classroom and the Program overall scored 100 in seven of the 10 areas reflecting quality care and education. This is the fourth time the program has achieved the five-year accreditation. The program serves 68 children in the three classrooms. Applications are available for interested families on the Cabrillo College website or at the Children’s Center office, located in the 1500 building of the Aptos campus.
