Watsonville Tecnología-Educación-Comunidad will be offering a new scholarship in 2013, but before high school seniors can apply for the award, the honor needs a name.
Watsonville TEC's community leadership council is looking for an inspiration to name the $500 scholarship for, according to Watsonville TEC program director Jacob Martinez.
"We want to name that scholarship fund after someone in the Santa Cruz County who has contributed to the technology or educational advancement of the county," Martinez explained.
Up to three scholarships will be awarded annually to graduating high school seniors who are entering college.
For more than six years Watsonville TEC has provided technology education to students in the Pajaro Valley Unified School District, including some high school students who are now among the top teenage girls in technology in the nation.
Have an idea on who the scholarship could be named after? Email Martinez at jacobm@etr.org with the name and a paragraph about that persons contribution to technology or education in Santa Cruz County by Dec. 15.
