A handful of the youngest Pajaro Valley Unified School District students have yet to go back to school, but an important deadline is coming up this week for parents.
Transitional Kindergarten starts Oct. 15 for all students who turn 5 between Nov. 2 and Dec. 2. Applications are due Wednesday.
The two-year kindergarten commitment, called TK, is a bridge between preschool and kindergarten for young children. That means TK students this year will be in traditional kindergarten classes next year.
The TK program is free—this is public school—but the school district won't provide buses for students.
The instructors are credentialed elementary teacher with experience in early childhood education and or kindergarten instruction. Classes are 3 1/2 hours long. The program will be offered at , , and elementary schools, according to the Register Pajaronian.
Parents, Transitional Kindergarten applications are due at the PVUSD offices Wednesday (that's tomorrow). The application is available by clicking this link. Then school district staff will schedule an appointment with your family at one of two locations:
- between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17
- Mar Vista Elementary between 12:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19
