Trailblazers to Speak at 40th Event: Part II

Vicki Escarra of Feeding America, the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity, will be speaking on July 20th as Second Harvest Food Bank Commemorates 40 Years.

Vicki Escarra is President and CEO of Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity, which provides food to Americans in need through a network of more than 200 food banks. She has led the organization through the most significant period of advancement in its three-decade history.

Since her appointment in 2006, Ms. Escarra has transformed the organization, expanding the number of people served from 25 million to 37 million and the pounds of food and grocery products distributed from 2 billion to more than 3 billion annually.

According to Feeding America:

• Nearly 1 in 6 Americans is now food insecure and the need is expected to remain elevated even as the economy improves.

• Nearly 1 in 4 children is now food insecure and rapid growth in senior food insecurity is expected.

The fact is; hunger is real and solvable and taking action makes a difference. Ms. Escarra will discuss Feeding America’s strategy for engaging citizens in the effort to provide food security for everyone by supporting local food banks and advocating for Federal food assistance programs.

Please join Second Harvest as we commemorate our 40th anniversary on Friday, July 20th.

We got one too sweetcakes (some caring person actually tucked it into my door handle so it wouldn'tRead More blow away) even though I have a "No on T" sign in my yard. The "Yes on T" is all lies anyway so it went right into my recycle bin. Perhaps it was just coincidence but they came while we were at the City Council meeting last night. Go figure.
