5th Annual Breastfeeding Walk

The Community Bridges WIC Breastfeeding Awareness Walk is one of many similar Walks planned across California to promote the health benefits of breastfeeding and childhood obesity prevention. The Walks are sponsored by The California WIC Association, the California Breastfeeding Coalition and the California Department of Public Health.

It is now evident that childhood obesity is an epidemic, and breastfeeding is the first step toward prevention.  “There is no better start to life than breastfeeding,” said Cathy Cavanaugh, Director of the Community Bridges WIC Program.  “Our walk will bring awareness to the importance of breastfeeding as a key health strategy for preventing acute and chronic diseases among children, including childhood obesity.”
