Baseball Hitting Clinic

There will be a hitting clinic for baseball players ages 8-15 at the Watsonville High varsity baseball field. The three-hour session costs $50.

The session focuses on hitting: how to hit with power, how to hit more consistently, the mental approach to hitting, situational hitting, sac bunts, bunting for a hit and drills. It will also help players with base running: taking leads, stealing second and third, reading balls in the dirt, secondary leads, delay steal and reading pitchers' moves.

The clinic will be taught by James Gomez, a Watsonville High baseball coach, and Ken Nakagawa, a St. Francis High baseball coach. It's a fundraiser for Waves, a 13U traveling baseball team that earned a birth to the Elite World Series in Orlando, Fla., later this summer.
