For MVC, the season started a long ways from home.

The Mustangs played their first four games of the year in a tournament held in Katy, Texas. MVC dropped three of four games on the trip, playing against some of the top teams in the baseball rich state of Texas.

Isaac Itamura recorded the lone RBI of the day in the 2-1 walk-off victory against Watsonville this week.

The junior outfielder went 3-for-3 at the plate, raising his average to a juicy .467 through five games.

Itamura, and fellow juniors Austin Daich (.438) and Sam Thorne (.412) are all red-hot to open the ’11 season.

These two teams will meet again on April 15 at MVC.
