Rugby Team Improves to 2-2

Aptos Beach Rugby Dogs beats Paso Robles in weekend match.

Aptos Rugby Beach Dogs improved to 2-2 on the season when they recorded their second straight win this weekend again Paso Robles.

The Beach Dogs were the dominant team, overpowering the Celts 52-5. The tempo of the game was fast and that suited the Beach Dogs, with their quick players and strong passing. The forward pack dominated every scum, ruck, maul and lineout to provided the platform for the backs to score easily.

The backs were agressive in attack and the two centers of Lui Ma'aola and Adam England combined for five tries between them and 25 points.

Team scrum-half and captain Alex Doseff, was again excellent with his kicks between the posts, making 5 of 6.

The Aptos Beach Dogs compete in Division 3 of the Northern Californian Rugby Football Union. Players come from all over the Monterey Bay Peninsula and are all ages: from high school to age 50.  More info about the team can be found at  www.aptosrugby.com or via email: montereyrugby@gmail.com.

The Beach Dogs play at home next Saturday against their biggest rivals, the F.O.G. of San Francisco. The game will kick off at 1 p.m. in Marina. Check the team's website for the exact location. Admission is free.
