Status Check: 11 Weeks to New Arena

It doesn't look like much has happened in a week, but Warriors' spokesman Matt De Nesnera assures us otherwise.

Matt De Nesnera, the former KION TV broadcaster who now works for the Santa Cruz Warriors, says looks are deceiving.

The Kaiser Permanente Arena (that mouthful is going to take some time to get used to, but does KP Arena work for ex military people?), will make the Dec. 23 deadline (any bettors want to weigh in?)

This week local DevCon Construction is grading the lot and digging trenches for the foundation, important work that isn't that evident to the naked or clothed eye (sorry, blogger Geoff Gilbert is rubbing off on me).

Here are nine shots of the future home of the Santa Cruz Warriors.

The photo with the big truck with a hose coming out of the front is working on the sewer lines that is not connected with the arena project.

Thanks for letting us know Bill.

Very impressive to me; to dig down and install pipes then backfill, level, tamp, and remove dirtpiles in less than 3 month is terrific preperation! Getting trenches done before tractors sink in them (like the project on Mission St.) or unintended tidepools (as on West Cliff Dr.) Way to go!
