Watsonville Figher Wins Weekend Bout

Oscar Godoy defeated Jaime Del Cid in two rounds, moves to 5-2 with three KOs.

Watsonville boxing prospect Oscar Godoy won his matchup Saturday night with a second round knockout against Mexico's Jaime Del Cid, BoxingScene.com reported

The fight at the Woodland Community Center, outside of Sacramento, aired Telefutura.

The bout was less-than-inspired, according to the BoxingScene.com report, but was a good chance for Godoy to get back in the ring. He told reporters after that he hopes to get a fight in Tijuana next month.

Here's a video from Univision that shows the second round of the fight and Godoy's victory.

Godoy went pro in the fall of 2009. The Register Pajaronian newspaper did this profile of the then-19-year-old just before his first professional fight.
