County Fair Attendance Trends Up

The annual event concluded Sunday, and it looks like it was a big success.

The dust is just starting to settle at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds after six days of festivities during the annual County Fair. Already the event looks to be a great success, with attendance up 5 percent.

The fair "remains one of the most-loved events in the county," the fair's director of marketing, Steve Stagnaro, reported.

A total of 65,016 people attended the fair, almost a 5 percent increase from 2012.

"Receipts are still being tallied so total revenue is not yet known but that trend was also looking good earlier in the week," Stagnaro said in a prepared statement released Monday. "Revenue figures may be the most important as the fairgrounds works itself out of the financial difficulties it has faced most of this year."

The dates for next year's Santa Cruz County Fair are already set, so mark your calendars. It will be Sept. 10-15, 2013.
