When Does the Summer Metro Bus Schedule Change?

Metro is changing its hours for the fall and adding some new routes beginning Sept. 13.

Metro is making moves this fall.

Bus stops are being repaired throughout the county and the public transportation provider is renovating all of its transit centers in the county, including the .

And, in South County, some bus lines are being rerouted and a brand new route will debut. Route 77, an experimental 35-minute loop will go from Watsonville, through downtown, into Pajaro and back.

The changes mean a bus will leave the about every 15 minutes on weekdays.

The new schedule takes effect Sept. 13, a Thursday.

Here's a rundown of the Metro route changes this fall:

Route 71: Santa Cruz / Watsonville

The daily 11:35 p.m. trip from the Boardwalk to Santa Cruz Metro Center has ended. The last trip will depart from Santa Cruz Metro Center to Watsonville at 11:45 p.m.

Route 72: Corralitos

This route will operate hourly from 5:45 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. on weekdays. The 65-minute trips will run every hour. All trips will now depart Watsonville Transit Center at 45 minutes after the hour and many timepoints along the route have changed.

Route 74: Ohlone Parkway / Rolling Hills

This route has been rerouted.

Weekdays it will serve the Social Security Office, the Watsonville Community Hospital and the Towers on every 50-minute trip. Also this route will operate hourly from 6:10 a.m. to 6:10 p.m  All trips will now depart the Watsonville Transit Center at :10 after the hour and many timepoints along this route have changed. Two trips will serve Pajaro Valley High School and the Buena Vista area.

On weekends it will operate hourly on the weekends from 6:45 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. All trips will depart the Watsonville Transit Center at :45 after the hour.

Route 75: Green Valley

All trips will now depart the Watsonville Transit Center at 15 minutes after the hour and many timepoints along this route have changed. This route will operate hourly starting at 5:15 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.

Route 77: Civic Plaza / Pajaro

This new route will serve the Pajaro Community on the southern edge of Watsonville and will operate hourly from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. All trips will depart the Watsonville Transit Center at 30 minutes after the hour.

Route 79: East Lake

This route has been rerouted to serve Beach Street between Lincoln and Hushbeck in both directions, bringing back old bus stops along the way. All trips will now depart from the Watsonville Transit Center at on the hour and many timepoints along the route have changed. On the weekends, it departs at 30 minutes after the hour.

Route 19: UCSC via Lower Bay

Weekend trips departing from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. will return to its regular routing, which serves the Beach Street loop.

Route 68: Live Oak via Broadway / Portola

All weekend trips will return to regular routing using San Lorenzo Bouelvard to Ocean Street.
