California Peace Award To Be Given to Watsonville PAL

The organization provides pro-social activities to about 400 youth.





The Watsonville Police Activities League will be honored with a California Peace Award during National Night Out Tuesday evening.

Residents of the 30th California Assembly District submitted nominations earlier this year. Assemblyman Luis Alejo will present the award. 

Watsonville PAL provides pro-social activities to about 400 youth and their parents. The organization also partners with Pajaro Valley Prevention and Student Assistance and Pajaro Valley Unified School District.

The Watsonville Police Activities League currently provides these programs to kids:
• Golf 
• Little Kickers Aikido 
• Art 
• Guitar 
• Tae Kwon Do
• Police Cadets 
• Basketball 
• Judo
• Mentoring
• Girly-Girl Kickboxing 
• Self-Defense
• Shop with a Cop Program

PAL was established in 1998 by Sgt. Robert Montes to create a bond between members of the Watsonville Police Department and community youth. The program has been led by Coresta Sales for the last seven years.
