Mandilon Inc. Throws Charity Dance

The guys decide to have a semi-grand ball inside the Watsonville Women's Club to benefit youth.

had their first dance fundraiser of the year on Saturday night and it was only fitting that they hosted it at the .

A little over 100 people showed up to the Gran Baile de Primavera (Great Spring Dance) and more than half of them got down on the dance floor and grooved to the sounds of DJ Sonido Electro from 7-11 pm.

Co-founder of Mandilon Inc. Alfredo Torres was pleased that so many people showed up even with the ugly weather.  He was also aware of fact that the people of Watsonville have taken notice of the group’s efforts and events.

“It’s actually a very good turnout in spite of the rain,” said Torres. “A larger crowd and a lot of folks that hadn’t joined us before so that’s good. Word's getting out.”

Tickets for the dance were $10.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door and once again all the benefits went towards the Mandilon Inc. college scholarship funds.  Also inside the Women’s Club the guys sold $3 cups of Dos Equis beer, Sol beer, Tecate beer, margaritas and bottled water (for the youngsters).

Mandilon Inc, a tiny non-profit organization, has come a long way since it first started raising money for college scholarships and the community has stepped up by participating in recent events such as their last Sunday.
